Track & Field to Host YSU Icebreaker, Begin Indoor Season on Friday – Youngstown State Athletics

The Youngstown State track and field program is set to kick-off its 2021-22 indoor season on Friday, welcoming 25 competing universities to the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) for the YSU Icebreaker.

The annual meet makes its return to the WATTS after being cancelled last season due to COVID-19. Prior, the Icebreaker had been held every December since 2011.

The one-day meet will get underway at 2 p.m., with running and field events starting simultaneously and continuing on a rolling schedule. The WATTS is slated to house 45 men’s and women’s teams, including two fellow Horizon League members.

This season, the men’s program looks to capture its seventh-straight Horizon League indoor championship (eighth overall), while the women hope to secure their sixth-straight conference title (11th overall).
