GVSU Big Meet Recap
Clocking a time of 11:47.81, the women’s DMR squad comprised of Nicole Squatrito, Aiamyia Dudley, Natalie Fleming and Morgan Cole etched their names atop the YSU record books, setting new YSU program record at Grand Valley State’s Big Meet on Feb. 12. Breaking down the relay, Squatrito clocked a 3:32 1200m leg, Dudley recorded a 57.5 400m leg, Fleming ran a 2:19 800m leg and Cole closed clocking a 4:57 1600m leg. The outing uplifts the former record of 11:52.21 set in 2020.

Matching former-Penguin standout sprinter Jaliyah Elliott’s school record 60m dash time of 7.25, Jahniya Bowers took Friday’s event with a new GVSU Kelly Family Sports Center facility record and personal-best mark. Bower’s time also qualifies as the country’s 15th-fastest time clocked during the 2021-22 indoor season.

Logging a 7.49m (24′ 7″) mark, Tye Hunt matched Daiquain Watson’s school record length in the men’s long jump for the top finish in the event.

Conference Honors
The Penguins swept the women’s side of last week’s Nike #HLTF Athlete of the Week award, as Jahniya Bowers (60m) and Molly Radcliffe (shot put) were recognized for their performances at Grand Valley State’s Big Meet and Kent State’s Doug Raymond National Qualifier.

USTFCCCA Regional Rankings
Following the release of week four’s rankings, YSU found itself inside the Great Lakes Region’s top-15 men’s and women’s programs for a fourth-straight week.

Like a week ago, the women’s program is ranked No. 11 with 73.45 points, while the men’s team has been slated 12th with 115.35 points. Both programs continue to act as the Horizon League’s highest-ranked teams in the region.
