Men’s Track & Field Named USTFCCCA Indoor National Scholar Team of the Year, 44 Bears Selected as All-Academic Athletes – Sports News from Washington University in St. Louis

USTFCCCA RELEASE

New Orleans, La. – The Washington University in St. Louis men’s track & field team was named the 2022 Indoor Track & Field National Scholar Team of the Year, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). 

The Bears, who won their first track & field men’s team national championship in March also earn their first ever National Scholar of the Year award, as they marked a 3.66 cumulative team GPA. 

The women’s squad was also named to the All-Academic Team list, after boasting an impressive 3.72 cumulative team GPA. 

In order to earn this award, the cumulative team grade-point average (GPA) of all student-athletes must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale.

Individually between both the men’s and women’s track & field teams, 44 total Bears were selected as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes. 

To receive this honor, student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. They must have finished the season ranked in the top-50, must have competed as a member of one of the top-35 relay teams and/or participated at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships to be eligible for consideration.
