Indoor Track & Field Set for Atlantic Region Championship – Farmingdale Rams

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams are gearing up for the All-Atlantic Region Championships this weekend. The two-day Championship is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 4th & 5th and will be hosted by Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y.

FSC freshman Khadia Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) qualified in both the high jump and the shot put. Jenkins is currently 23rd in the region for the shot put after her throw of 11.69m (38′ 4.25″) at the Fastrack National Invite on February 11th. She also ranks 24th in the region in the high jump with a height of 1.56m (5′ 1.25″), which she accomplished on two occasions this season.

Sophomore Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) earned his opportunity at the Atlantic Regionals with a personal-best time of 7.15 in the 60m preliminaries at the NJAC Championship. He currently sits in 41st in the region in the 60m.

The Rams will also enter both a men’s and women’s 4 x 200m relay. The men’s relay will feature Johnson, Michel Seminara (Hauppauge, N.Y.), Nathaniel Blades (Freeport, N.Y.) and Rosean Bernard (Jamaica, N.Y.). The women will run Josephine Castano (Bay Shore, N.Y.), Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.), Jillian Kosky (Merrick, N.Y.) and Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.), with Wynter Wright (Yonkers, N.Y.) as an alternate.

Sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) and junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) will be the Rams wild card entries and will both compete in the mile run. 

At the NJAC Championships on February 21st, Haynes broke the school record in the mile with a time of 5:22.85. She followed by breaking her own record at the the Fastrack Last Chance meet in 5:19.40.

Calogianes also set a personal best mark at the Last Chance meet in the mile with a time 4:32.24.

In addition, junior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) qualified for the Regionals in the high jump, but is unable to compete.
