MOUNT ZION — Effingham High School competed in the Apollo Conference Indoor Boys and Girls Track Invitationals Saturday.

The Hearts finished sixth in the girls meet. Mount Zion won with 164.5 points followed by Lincoln 78, Mahomet-Seymour 72.5, Mattoon 52, Olney 50, Effingham 49, Charleston 34.5, PIttsfield 28, Maroa-Forysth 23, Williamsville 20 and Taylorville 13.5.

The Hearts claimed nine top five and above finishes in the meet. The 3200 relay team captured second place with a time of 11:53.32. Members of the team were Haddie Hill, Krista Phillips, Morgan Springer and Jessica Larsen.

Abigail Adams finished third in the shot with a throw of 8.64m. Taking fourth place was Taylor Greene in the 60m hurdles in 11.59 seconds.

Other finishes in fifth place were Madison Pierce in the 60m dash in 8.63 seconds and the 200 in 29.20, Kayleigh Koester in the 400 im 1:07.02, Jessica Larsen in the 1600 in 6:06.84 minutes, Krista Phillips in the high jump at 1.32 meters and the 800 relay team of Koester, Hill, Greene and Pierce in 2:02.62 minutes.

In the boys meet, Mahomet-Seymour won with 89.5 points followed by Lincoln 86, Wililamsville 79, Mount Zion 72, Maroa-Forsyth 53.7, Mattoon 52.9, Charleston 52.4, Olney 39, Taylorville 27, Effingham 19.5 and Pittsfield 13.

Effingham’s Logan Heil claimed second place in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.45 seconds.

The other top five finish for EHS was Dalton Fox who captured fourth place in the 400 meters in 57.05 seconds.
