Make and take fair garden

The OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are hosting a make and take class for creating an indoor/outdoor fairy garden. Learn how to create your own mystical fairy or gnome garden. Preregistration is required as space is limited. June 7th at 5:00 p.m. at the Lisbon Fair Grounds in the Sales office by the Beef Complex. Cost $20. Call 330-870-1167 to save your spot.

Canner pressure gauge testing

Are you preparing to can fresh vegetables and fruits from your garden or local market? Before starting, come out to our free canner pressure gauge testing. Ensuring your canner pressure gauge is accurate is important for food safety. We will be hosting a one day drive through testing June 22 at 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Columbiana County Fairgrounds by the sales office near the beef complex and camp grounds.

Banquet in Salem

The drive thru or dine in Banquet in Salem will be sponsored by Garry, Mary and Lydia Shasteen and Errin Balogh in memory of Samantha Shasteen Monday, June 6, at the Salem Memorial Building from 5 p.m. until the food is gone, no later than 7 p.m. The menu will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cookies. Dine in will park in the designated are behind the Memorial Building and enter through the front door. Drive thru will line up on the gravel lot behind the Memorial Building, with meals limited to one per individual in the vehicle. Do not park in the library lot. Leetonia Ruritans golf scramble

Leetonia Ruritans will hold a golf scramble June 11 at Valley Golf Club, 41784 Cherry Fork Road, Columbiana. It will be a four-person, 9-hole scramble. Tee times start at 1 pm. Cost is $31.25 per person or $125 per four-person team and includes green fees, lunch, beverages and two riding carts per four-person team. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Holloway Insurance Co. has sponsored a $5,000 cash prize for a hole in one. Call Valley Golf club at 330-482-9464 for tee time.

Soap box derby

The annual Quakertown Super Kids soap box derby for special needs children will be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in front of City Hall on Broadway Avenue. A concession stand will have food available and a 50/50 drawing will be held. The event is free and the public is invited to come out and cheer on the racers.

BL Class of 1972

Planning continues for the Beaver Local Class of 1972’s 50th reunion set for July 2 at the K-12 campus on Bell School Road. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m., and the cost is $40 per person. Dress is casual. Registration deadline is June 4 by sending a check made out to Pam Hillberry to 46181 Clarkson Road, Rogers, Ohio, 44455.
