Connacht GAA to advance with plans for Air Dome intercounty games despite restrictions around indoor sports – Scoreline.ie

Connacht GAA will push ahead with their plans to stage the FBD League as an indoor event in 2022 despite the most recent set of restrictions around indoor sports.

All games that are due to take place at the NUIG Connacht Air Dome in Bekan, Mayo will now have a throw-in time of 6pm instead of 7.30pm as was originally planned.

There will be no extra-time in these knockout fixtures with the winner being decided by a golden score if the teams cannot be separated at full-time.

The clash between Sligo and Andy Moran’s Leitrim will be the first competitive senior GAA match to take place indoors on January 4.

The dome is 150m in length, 100m wide and 26 metres in height.

It has 600 seats for spectators with a capacity crowd of 2,500 people but only 300 fans will be allowed entry into the dome for the upcoming intercounty fixtures set to take place there due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The opening game on January 4 sees Sligo take on Leitrim before old rivals Mayo and Galway go head-to-head on January 7.

Roscommon will face the winners of Leitrim and Sligo the next day in the second semi-final with the decider scheduled for January 14.
