Cheshire Girls’ Indoor Track And Field Athletes Shine On Monday In New Haven – Cheshire Herald

On Monday, Cheshire High School girls’ indoor track and field opened 2022 with a Southern Connecticut Conference Developmental meet at New Haven’s Floyd Little Athletic Center. Individually, senior quad-captain Kira Zawalich sprinted to second in the 55-meter hurdles (9.41) and fifth in the 300-meters (45.61).

Zawalich also teamed with junior Cate Palma, senior Ashlyn Diglio, and freshman Leah Farrell to finish runner-up in the 4×400-meter relay (4:33.36).

Palma, senior Hannah Jalowiec, senior quad-captain Riley Hanover, and Farrell combined to take second in the 1,600-meter sprint medley race (4:40.41). Senior quad-captain Arjanne Josef tied for third place in pole vault (seven feet) and secured ninth in long jump (14’1”).

Senior Emma Lepisto (10.03), sophomore Molly Lanz (10.04), and senior Lauren Houle (10.61) claimed the fifth through seventh spots in the 55-meter hurdles. In the 55-meter dash, Houle earned fourth (8.01) and Lepisto (8.02) followed in fifth.

Lanz added seventh in the 300-meters (46.14) and long jump (14’6”).

Tuesday’s varsity schedule:

Boys’ Indoor Track and Field

Cheshire visits the Floyd Little Athletic Center to compete at 5:30 p.m.

Boys’ Basketball (0-2)

For the home opener, the Rams play Fairfield Prep (2-1) at 7 p.m.
