Baldwinsville boys indoor track wins at Jensen Relays – Eagle News Online

SYRACUSE -No one could catch the Baldwinsville boys indoor track and field team during Wednesday’s first session of the Oscar B. Jensen Relays at SRC Arena.

Picking up 105 points, the Bees turned back 17 challengers, including second-place Fayetteville-Manlius, who with 79 points was the only side close as Liverpool (53 points) was a distant third.

In the girls Jensen meet, B’ville had 58 points, third to Liverpool’s winning total of 70.5 points and F-M’s 67 points.

But that effort included Sydney McKenney setting a school record in the pole vault when she cleared 9 feet 6 inches, putting her fourth overall.

McKenney also was third in the long jump, going14’6”, and tied for fifth in the high jump, clearing 4’6”.

Back on the boys side, Sam Mellinger tore to victory in the 55-meter dash, his time of 6.64 seconds augmented by Amir Akins finishing eighth in 7.07. Then Mellinger won the 300-meter dash in 37.31 seconds as no one else broke the 39-second mark.

And in the longest race, the 3,200-meter run, no one caught Solomon Holden-Betts, whose winning 10:07.18 was more than a half-minute ahead of the field as Adam Kozman was sixth in 11:16.28.

Owen Weaver beat the field in the triple jump, going 40’2 3/4” as Zach Aria was seventh. Weaver also cleared 5’6” in the high jump for second place, with Kyle Sheckler (5’3”) tied for third.

Robert Thompson had a third-place long jump of 18’11” as Dan Ewald threw the shot put 37’9 1/2” to grab fourth place, also finishing fourth in the weight throw with 40’2” as teammate Gibson Boudov (38’1”) was seventh.

Jeff Ragonese took fourth in the mile in 4:57.07, with Arthur Bauer fifth in 4:57.97. Logan Hayes ran 600 metersin 1:34.81 to finish fifth.

Jackson Creelman got fourth in the 55 hurdles in 9.68 second as Logan Zapf (10.27) was sixth. Jack McAllister took eighth in the 1,000-meter run.

Also in the girls meet, Madison Kennedy sped to fourth place in the 600 in 1:51.16 as Adrianna Orlando (1:56.98) was seventh. Adelyn Ameigh-Coggen went 3,000 meters in 12:44.13 to finish sixth.

Sophia Cavalieri was fifth in the mile in 5:53.20, with Kamryn Barton seventh in the 1,000 in 3:36.45. Kelsey Dwyer was eighth in the 300 in 47.73 seconds as Mia Pozzi took 10th place in the 55 sprint.

Anaiya Johnson, with her triple jump of 27’8”, finished fifth. Caitlyn Williams cleared 6 feet in the pole vault, tied for sixth behind McKenney. Julianna Gingrich finished eighth in the weight throw.
